    Description

For your consideration is a stunning pair of 19th century Chinese paintings on tile in beautiful, quality carved rosewood panels. We received this opinion from someone extremely knowledgeable in this area. Each one measures approximately 44" tall, 12-3/8" wide and 1" thick. Viewable area of the tiles, 23-1/4" x 8-1/4". The tiles may be slightly larger, but I am not going to tear into the back to find out. The tiles might be signed on the back. There is glass over the tiles. There are four dovetails on each side and two dovetails on the bottom and top for a total of twelve. There are six wood wedges that holds the back over the tiles in place. I do not see a signature on the front of the tiles and I have not removed the panel backs to see if there are signatures on the backs.
Condition: I do not see any cracks, paint missing or any other defect on the tile panels. The wood panels are in nice condition, but one panel, in the top right corner above the dragons, has a slight crack with separation. You can see this in the first gallery image - the panel on the left. This same panel has a small tight crack in the lower left to the left of the carving. The other panel has a tight crack in the wood to the left of the motif. Extremely minor scuffs - almost not even worth mentioning.
    Each panel weighs twelve pounds.
