The Beatles super rare autographed Please
Please Me Parlophone PMC 1202 1963 first pressing signed
beautifully and boldly on the back cover in black felt tip pen by John Lennon, Paul McCartney who added
“all the best!” and
a caricature (pre smiley face days) and Ringo Starr who added “To Dave Best Wishes
from the Beatles”
This signed Please Please Me was obtained by British photographer David Magnus on April 4th 1963 when
he photographed The Beatles performing at the Roxburgh Hall, Stowe School, Buckinghamshire England.
Please Please Me was released on March 22nd 1963, making this one of the first albums signed by all four
Beatles in existence and it comes with impeccable provenance.
David continued photographing The Beatles
until 1967 culminating with exclusive photographic coverage of The Beatles recording “All You Need Is Love”
for the infamous appearance on the “Our World” television broadcast at Abbey Road Studios.
This is an incredible piece of Beatles history and one of if not the nicest signed Beatles albums I have
ever
seen!!!!  As you can well see, this signed Please Please Me album cover is in outstanding condition, thanks
to David’s TLC of it for over 58 years!
Comes with a letter of provenance from David which reads:
I David Magnus state that my ‘Please Please Me’ album by The Beatles was signed for me on the 4th April 1963,
whilst I was
photographing The Beatles at Roxburgh Hall Stowe School Buckingham. I purchased this record
before I went to Stowe School having heard some stories of their music, I thought that one day this group would
be very famous.
After the concert I photographed The Beatles with the headmaster and family and also some pupils. It was during
this time that I asked the Beatles if they would Kindly sign my LP for me. I had even taken with me a black felt tip
pen marker for this purpose. They not only signed the Album but drew some drawings on the rear cover.
Schoolboy David Moores had asked The Beatles to play at Stowe School and the Beatles were paid 100 (pounds).
They played their songs from their first LP release ‘Please Please Me’.
Brian Epstein had made a number of contracts from their early days for The Beatles to play various venues. Being
the honourable businessman that he was Brain and The Beatles fulfilled these contracts.
I got on well with The Beatles and continued photographing them until 1967. My last session was the exclusive
photographic coverage of The Beatles recording “All You Need Is Love” for “Our World”.
“Our World” was first live live worldwide linked satellite programme. It was to be broadcast live to 19 nations on the
25th June 1967. Each of the countries provided a separate segment.
I was at Abbey Road EMI studios on the 24th June in addition to the 25th June. This enabled me to photograph the
setup and rehearsals. On the 25th June the live recording of The Beatles singing “All You Need is Love” was
transmitted as the final segment. The worldwide audience is estimated at between 400 - 700 million viewers; The
Beatles closed the programme with the final performance ever of “All You Need Is Love”.

This signed Please Please Me comes with a letter of authenticity from one of the most
respected Beatles autograph
authenticators in the world.
There is some wear to the cover itself, mostly along the seams, nothing that affects the autographs as you can
see in the scans and the record has some hairlines and the original inner sleeve is in pretty nice shape (see scans)..
....it’s  very
hard to find these Please Please Me first pressings in decent condition.
