Vintage Antique Wood CHINESE ANCESTRAL TABLET Memorial Altar Shrine China 1942

Description

This Chinese memorial to an ancestor is carved from a solid piece of wood in the shape of a pillar or placard. It has a date of 1942. It measures approximately 11-1/2" tall and 5" wide.
I had a friend who is a native Chinese speaker translate the writing on this rustic wooden sculpture.  This translation is not 100% complete but it gives a good indication of the history:
"This is written to remember a person named 牧元 in 1942
Remember the location which is an ancient tribal town in Xinjiang province
This deceased had helped many people
Written for the person 牧元"
